This morning the news broke that South Korea had agreed to send a 160 member group including pop singers Lee Sun-hee, Cho Yong-pil and girl group Red Velvet, to North Korea to perform several concerts from late March to early April (31st-3rd). The announcement is the latest in a series of unprecedented events which has dramatically quashed tensions on the peninsula. They will become the first South Korean singers to perform in Pyongyang since 2002.
For Visit North Korea the timing couldn’t have been better. Our long scheduled Easter Delegation Trip takes place from the 28th March to April 2nd, meaning our group will be in Pyongyang at the same time as the anticipated concerts! Although we cannot yet confirm how the organisation of the concerts will be or whom the audience will be open to, we certainly hope we can get involved and so far, we don’t see why not. Regardless, this will be an incredibly exciting time to Visit North Korea. It’s a time of change and it is a time of induced optimism.
Stay tuned for more updates from Visit North Korea!
