The DPRK has garnered support from various non-state actors and organizations across the world, often aligned with its socialist ideals or critical stance against Western influence. One of the most notable of these groups is the Korean Friendship Association (KFA), an international organization that promotes the DPRK’s political and ideological agenda. Founded in 2000, the KFA operates in numerous countries and aims to foster solidarity with North Korea, organize events, and disseminate information that supports the DPRK’s policies. The
KFA is particularly active in Europe, Latin America, and parts of Asia, where it advocates for North Korea’s sovereignty and denounces international sanctions.
In addition to the KFA, other smaller groups and individuals around the world express support for the DPRK through cultural exchanges, political advocacy, and humanitarian efforts. These groups often emphasize the DPRK’s resistance to imperialism and its self-reliant economic model, known as Juche. While these organizations are not officially affiliated with the DPRK government, they contribute to shaping the country’s image abroad and act as unofficial diplomatic channels. Though their influence is limited, they play a role in promoting the DPRK’s perspective
on the global stage.
