The Sosan Hotel is one of Pyongyang’s many hotels available for foreign travellers. Located in the sporting district in the outskirts of the city, the Sosan is famous for its affordability, convenience and nevertheless broad range of facilities available for guests. The hotel was constructed in 1989, but nevertheless renovated in 2015 along with the other hotels in the country. Operated by the Sports Tourism company of the DPRK, it possesses 30 floors and 500 rooms.
Facilities wise, the hotel possesses a golf course (the only one in the DPRK), a beer garden, multiple bars, a karaoke room, a tea shop and several restaurants. Due to its sporting location and themes, it also has a sports shop where you can buy North Korean football shirts, jerseys and other memorabilia. Many of our 2020 tours will be based at the Sosan Hotel due to its prices.
The rooms are of a good quality with up to date bathrooms and showers. Like other hotels in the DPRK, they all come with telephones for international phone calls, a TV (which displays Russia Today, Al-Jazeera and China’s CCTV). Some of the rooms have a view over the sporting area of the city and its adjacent golf course.
